Fixing the iPhone - Independence Day
Link: Fixing the iPhone | Crave : The gadget blog.
This article at Crave contains a laundry list of the functions missing from the IPhone that may, or may not, be fixed in the next iteration. For now, declare your independence from the hype and choose a cell phone based upon functionality and usefulness and open architecture, rather than beauty. Oh, the IPhone is a beautiful girl, no doubt. But she entices with exterior charm, and doesn't deliver on the promise. Give me my overweight, ugly Treo 700p that has access to thousands of third-party applications, which means stereo sound, GPS software, unlimited data storage via SD cards, instant messaging clients, a workable thumb keyboard with real keys, a removable and replaceable battery, a stylus for touch screen use, true 3G data and email speed, flash support in the browser, the ability to take video of the kids frolicking on the beach, wireless syncing, and other features too numerous to mention. I am going out to the beach now; I am spending my Independence Day on the tip of the Treasure Island, Florida peninsula, caressing my Treo and letting her know that she is still my girl, and that I love her very much.

Please tell me how you got stereo sound on your 700p!

Sure, Christopher. It comes with stereo capability. PocketTunes plays music in stereo. Just plug in any set of noise cancelling headphones. You will need a 2.5 mm adapter. You can get one at RadioShack for a couple of bucks.Or, you can go to www.seidio.com, and they have all sorts of headsets. You can even do A2DP wireless bluetooth stereo with AudioGateway from Softick, and a set of A2DP stereo bluetooth headphones.Good luck.
