When I was growing up, bargaining and haggling for what I wanted was not cool; it was considered somehow undignified. I learned, however, that bargaining often saved me money, as I grew older, and I quickly learned that I really didn't care how it looked. In the same way, solo lawyers quickly get over the reticence about talking money with a prospective or new client. In addition to looking for ways to save money by postponing purchases, asking for a lower price works in every field of endeavor. It never hurts to ask. Many purchases are, in the long run, unnecessary anyway, aren't they?
