Windows 7 - It's like Vista, only less annoying • Channel Register. Windows 7 is getting a lot of attention lately. It is proving that Vista's principal problems related to its annoying habit of interrupting workflow with messages that sounded like a Nun with a big stick. You know, the one who used to stand in the doorway, waving her weapon, and sternly warning you to do or not do something you were obviously thinking about doing or not doing. We generally do not want to be told what to do by authority figures; especially when the advice is often not necessary. Of course, sometimes the advice is good; but, that doesn't seem to ameliorate the annoyance factor. Windows 7 is fast, and less annoying. That alone will sell a few million copies. Plus, Microsoft is going to be providing it free for a year. Once you get hooked, they will sell it to you if you want to keep using it. (insert appropriate drug addiction metaphor here).
