Xoom 4G upgrade could take more than six days - Computerworld. The Xoom by Motorola is a great tablet, if you have $600 to $800 to spend on a device without a keyboard. However, I took a look at them at BestBuy the other day, and was not impressed. My $379 Viewsonic GTablet has the same capacitive screen, and the same speedy Tegra dual core processor. I don't have the fancy new Honeycomb interface yet; but, I have Flash 10.1, and the Froyo interface is familiar and works great. In fact, I don't even know that I like the Honeycomb interface. Now, we hear that the biggest benefit of the Xoom, its ability to upgrade to 4G, won't be available for a while, and will require a 6 day trip to Motorola? And, the biggest reason I will keep my GTablet is that the Xoom doesn't have a USB port. Excuse me? The biggest reason to avoid the iPad is its lack of customization ability. Without a USB port you need to use accessories that are BlueTooth only. Anyone who has experienced problems with BlueTooth pairing or syncing, raise your hands. Yes, Viewsonic is brain dead about the interface; and, you have to do some fiddling with the Linux interface to get rid of the TapNTap garbage that comes with the unit. But, the GTablet is the best value for the price, and the Xoom changes nothing.

Actually I've never had problems pairing anything to my Mac or iPad ;-)

I setup my email yesterday and found out that each account will only allow a maximum of 25 emails. I called Motorola and after 1.5 hours of them trying to find a Xoom they confirmed this bug. I was told that there is no timeline on the fix. This is a big problem for me because of the lack of filtering. I get more than 25 junk emails an hour and I cant get the real emails unless I sit there and delete bad emails constantly. NO GOOD!

Does anyone know how to use the thumb controls on the Xoom? I saw a video where someone was holding the xoom and using their thumbs and getting a circular control pad on each side of the xoom. Appriciate any help.

Mike:
Have you tried using GMail? Or, is this a Xoom problem with the 3.0 interface?
