Office 365: Can Microsoft replace Microsoft? %u2022 Channel Register. There is no question that the future of computing is on the web. However, security issues, and a large base of stand alone vertical market software has kept law offices in the desktop and notebook world. While I am a WordPerfect guy, and you will pry my last copy of WordPerfect from my cold, dead hands, I am a realist, and I have a copy of Word 2007 on my machine. There are free alternatives, but I confess that I like being able to share files with my colleagues in true Microsoft Word. I save my Word files to the web with Google Docs; however, doing everything over an Internet connection just isn't there yet. Office 365 wants to change that; and, nobody ever got rich betting against the Microsoft juggernaut. Whatever, the future is on the Internet, and you are going there whether you like it or not. You WILL enjoy yourself.
