Is Windows 8 on Intel coming sooner rather than later? | Nanotech - The Circuits Blog - CNET News. After my unsatisfactory interlude with Windows 8 Developer Preview on Saturday, I realized that the OS requires a touchscreen tablet or computer. While my Dell Inspiron Duo has a touch screen that flips sides, I don't want to risk my main computer with an Alpha install. Of course, I use Windows 7 every day. And, I use a touch based interface on my Android tablet every day. It would be nice if both could co-exist on a thin light tablet computer or a thin ultralight notebook computer. However, that doesn't appear to be in the cards until late this year, or early next year. The first Windows 8 tablets will be rolling out soon; and, they will be on my list of new tech to handle right away. For now, my little Duo and my awesome Android Samsung tablet will do fine.
