Jury decides against Google on Oracle%u2019s copyright claim but reaches impasse on key issue - The Washington Post. By deadlocking of the key issue of "fair use", the jury handed Oracle a Pyrrhic victory today in the copyright portion of the Oracle Google litigation. The jury found against Google, but couldn't decide on the "fair use" question. And, the statutory damages are much less that what Oracle sought in the action. Google has already moved for a mistrial, and prevailed on other claims. As was predicted in the beginning, it appears that the litigation over Java code may ultimately be only a tempest in a teapot.
