The Microsoft Surface RT is not for me | ZDNet.
I agree with most of this article; except that I don't think the Windows 8 interface is a problem. Most of this author's complaints will go away with the coming of Surface Pro. It will run all Windows legacy software, and will have the same Intel chip as my notebook computer. That is the one I will be looking at, as well as the detachable tablet screen offerings from Acer and Asus. However, I think the biggest fail for me will be the chiclet keyboard. To do real word processing, I need a real keyboard, with full travel clickable keys, and a full sized set of keys for fat fingers. I think Acer and Asus will get this right from the get go. Microsoft needs more time as a manufacturer. But, pair a tablet notebook combination device with Windows 8, and Microsoft will have a winner. It will make the 10 inch Android and iPad form factor obsolete.
