Veterans Day Facts %u2014 History.com Articles, Video, Pictures and Facts.
Today is the day we used to call Armistice Day, passed in 1926 to honor those who served in World War I, and has become a national day to recognize all who have served honorably, in war or peactime. Today is not to be confused with Memorial Day, on the fourth Monday in May, when we honor those who died in battle. So, fellow Vets, this is our day. If you served abroad, welcome home. If you didn't, thank you for your service.
