Evernote | Remember everything with Evernote, Skitch and our other great apps..

You know who you are. You are a solo lawyer, or a small firm lawyer, who doesn't need a full bore case management system, and the resulting overhead. That describes me, in the waning years of my career. No more jury trials or complex litigation for me. As I wind down my practice and my life, I want simple, cheap (free is better) organization. So, while I save word processor documents for all my clients and matters in .docx or .wpd format in folders that identify the client and matter, and I have a client and matter folder for scanned and created .pdf files, it can be a pain to go through them for the documents I want. Enter a free program called Evernote. I can automatically import and sync all the relevant folders to a folder in Evernote, and have the added bonus of a thumbnail and half screen view of each imported document. If you want to download a lot of stuff, it is only $45 a year to get a gigabyte of data a month. An added bonus with Evernote is that you can create personal folders that will store anything, web pages, documents, photos, videos, whatever you want. And, there is a Chrome add-on that sits in the extension tray that will permit clipping anything you can see in your browser. Then, just by logging in, you have access to all your stuff from any of your web-enabled devices. So, organize your life and practice for free or cheap. You decide.
