How to Disable All of Windows 10%u2019s Built-in Advertising. Few things make me as angry as pop up ads. I am happily browsing a website, and a big ad pops up to prevent my reading. I have to close the ad to continue. By using AdBlocker, I can eliminate many of these; but, I have noticed that more websites are refusing to permit me to continue reading content until I disable the ad blocker. Uh, sorry, Charlie, I will just move on to the next site. See ya'. I have no problem with static ads that appear on a webpage, and don't interfere with content. I can click them or not as I choose. Now, Microsoft is using pop up ads in the OS. Admittedly, they pop up in the lower right corner, and are easy to ignore; but, it is still an intrusion. I paid for this software, Microsoft. Happily, you can stop Windows 10 from doing this. Go to Settings/Personalization/Lockscreen, and set the lockscreen background to Pictures or Slideshow, instead of "Windows Spotlight". Spotlight, right. Spotlighting annoying ads for games and apps I don't want. Jeez.
