"You are not your body and hair-style, but your capacity for choosing well. If your choices are beautiful, so too will you be." Epictetus
If ever there was a time in which the Stoic philosophy was needed, it certainly is ours. So many events, and influences, and problems; all serious challenges to our sanity. But, by allowing these external influences to control our behavior, we give up what makes us humans. You are in control of your reaction to every external influence, or event, or whatever good or bad happens to you. We have become so involved in our appearance, our body shape, our hair style, our condition of health or illness, that we have forgotten that our mind makes the choice whether to be good or bad, or to react positively or negatively, to such useless things. Try today to live in your mind, and not in your body. You get to control what happens in there.
