Logitech Will Be Intentionally Bricking All Harmony Link Units on March 16th, 2018 [Updated]. Logitech really shot itself in the foot this time. Most tech users plan to use the devices they purchase until the end of its useful life. Sure, we often replace perfectly usable tech with a newer version. Logitech, however, went a step further when it announced that, due to a Security Certificate issue, it was intentionally bricking Harmony universal hub devices, and would only give owners a 30% discount on a new version. Excuse me? When you sell me a product, you don't get to turn it off whenever you feel like it, Logitech. After an Internet storm of protest, Logitech has decided to replace the bricked devices with a new one, at no charge. Users who bought a new one with the discount will be made whole. Sorry, Logitech, too late. First, you dissed your customers with the dismissive "the pool of Harmony users is small" insult. Then, you brick the devices without so much as an apology. I won't be buying Logitech products in the future. Call it my state of disharmony with an uncaring corporate giant.
