Control and Choice. How often in life are we frustrated by other people's circuses? How often do we wish we could control the behavior of others? How often do we say to ourselves: "If I were in charge, I would do things differently?" But, we aren't in charge, are we? We don't own the circus, do we? In fact, even if we owned the circus, we can only control our own reactions, can't we? The secret to happiness is figuring out what is within our control and what is not. The next time you feel the urge to try to control events or the actions of others, say to yourself: "Not my monkey. Not my circus". You will be happier. I promise.
