The Pied Piper of Parrots - The New York Times. Glenn Sorino, the Parrot Whisperer, makes a living calming the parrots of New Yorkers who experience loss (the death of an owner) or other behavioral problems. Parrots need daily attention, and they can become whiny, loud, belligerent children if they are not given it. However, I don't agree with some of the conclusions of this article; in fact, I believe that, in addition to inattention, much of the parrot behavior problems stem from lack of parrot companionship. I have six of these beautiful creatures in my aviary at the office, and they are very happy in their own flock. Some of them bond to a particular human; Savannah, the Scarlet Macaw, has bonded to me, and won't tolerate anyone else. But, in the main, they each have their own unique personality, and they, like humans, respond to love and caring.
