Seagate Expansion 8TB USB 3.0 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive STEB8000100 Black - Newegg.com. When I began to learn about computers in the early Eighties, we had to put floppy disks into the computer with the operating system on them just to boot the things. Floppy disks became 3.5 inch hard plastic things, each of which held 720 thousand characters; and, I had a collection of them, hundreds, stored in plastic boxes in my home office and at the law office. I stored documents on them, and inserted the disks to recall the documents when needed. I digress into the distant past so that you young people can get some perspective. This Seagate external drive holds 8 Terabytes of data and programs. How many of my little 3.5 inch plastic disks do you think it would take to fill up this $139 hard drive? Do the math. Oh, never mind. I'll do it for you. How about 11,785,891? Anybody have room in their home or office for 11 Million floppies? Didn't think so.
