Link: IOGEAR: Expand Your Connectivity.
In a solo law firm, one of the most difficult tasks is that one lawyer
must perform all of them. Thus, I am my own tech support person, and I
have to maintain the network myself. Admittedly, it is a small network,
just me and my secretary, and a workstation in the library. However,
the network server, which resides under my desk also needs to be
maintained. Two monitors, two keyboards, two mice, all competing for
space in my cramped office. Recently, I discovered the new USB Iomega
KVM mini switch, which allows the use of one keyboard, one mouse, and
one monitor for two computers. The KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) switch
plugs into the business end of your peripherals, and there are two long
cables with connectors at the end to plug in to the two computers.
Then, voila, tap the scrol lock key twice, and you can switch back and
forth. I didn't need extra USB ports, so I opted for the simple
version, without. Just $29.95, and my office looks less like an
airplane cockpit.
