The Microsoft ship, like all big ships, takes some time to turn. The iceberg that is Google has been using the Web 2.0 model of hosted applications, freely offered, and ad supported, to compete in the new Internet. Microsoft has been spending like crazy to catch up, and it is having an effect on the bottom line. Of course, like a turning ship, it is best not to be in its path after the turn. The people who are selling Microsoft stock should probably take another look. If the price keeps going down, I might even buy some.
