Link: Symantec Warns of New Zero-Day Word Attack - Yahoo! News.
You may have heard the term "zero day vulnerability" , and wondered what it meant. Often, by the time a computer hack or exploit is publicly announced, it has been privately disclosed, and the computer software maker being attacked has had time to fix the bug or solve the problem. A zero day attack occurs on the day of public disclosure of a new problem. In other words, no time to prepare, no time to protect a user's computer from the exploit. Zero day attacks are becoming more common, and this new one aimed at Microsoft Word creates another excuse for me to pound home the one thing you can do to protect yourself. Unless your email correspondent has specifically told you he or she is sending you a file (especially a Word document) DO NOT open it.
