The kwiksynch dual charger is basically a two node USB cable, that permits doubling of a USB port for charging or connecting two USB peripherals to one USB port. I carry a tiny portable 4 port USB hub, but this inexpensive ($14.95) little cable is a a handy computer bag accessory, if you have more than one USB device that needs charging, and you only have 1 or 2 USB ports available. There are car charging cables and tips available from the same company.

I remember reading 1984 in my youth; I thought it was a much too dark portrait of a future in which technology was able to track every citizen; now, I am not so certain. This book will educate you about RFID, and some of the subversive uses large corporations are likely to find for the little chips that can interact with the chips we carry around with us. For example, Woodward Laboratories has implanted RFID readers into soap dispensers. Employees wearing RFID badges, standing at the sink, can be identified and monitored. The little chips in the gas card that you wave at a gas pump for "convenience" can be read by RFID readers in many unusual places. When does the "innocent" collection of information about employees or shoppers cross the line? I suspect that lawyers will be at the front lines of the legal battles to come.

Link: Palm issues security fix for Treos - Engadget Mobile. Sometime this week, Palm users are anxiously awaiting the maintenance release for the Treo 700p. The release promises to fix the only two real problems with the perfect operating system; long pauses when loading some programs, and a tendency to crash with some third-party software. In the meantime, this security fix will make it difficult or impossible for Treo thieves to access data on a stolen device. Since my Treo is glued to my hand, they would have to take the hand also, so I am not worried.

How about creating a group in Jott, comprised of friends and family.
