As a solo practitioner in a suburban county, I can't identify with most of these "lies", but there is at least one that I don't think is a "lie" at all. As a litigator, I'm often asked to estimate how much the case will cost from beginning to end. I always try to overestimate, but I also advise the client that I'm not in sole control of that. A lot depends on "the lawyers on the other side" and the client. They might not see things our way and might fight well past the point of reason.
