Link: Kubuntu - The KDE Desktop.
The newest iteration of the most popular Linux distro, Kubuntu, is out and ready for download. If I could run my legacy legal software on Linux, I would abandon Windows XP in a minute. It is superior to both Windows and Apple OSx. It still has some rough edges, though, especially in the graphics drivers, and ease of use. However, Linux is free, free, and free. For a functional OS, you can't beat free. I know, I have played with virtual Windows boxes on Ubuntu installations; however, I had problems with it, and the complexity of virtual machines proved to be not worth it to me. I run Ubuntu distros on several home computers; especially, those that are used by the family for web browsing and email primarily. Who knows, however, what the future will bring? I know that I won't be paying big bucks for Vista or a Mac.
Once a distro get to the point where I can hand it to my wife (who is pretty tech-literate, on the verge of savvy), and she can handle it without me giving her a 3 hour training session, then we're in business. Until then, it's a geek toy.
