I will be in Tampa Thursday, and in Ft. Lauderdale on Friday, participating in the Florida Bar Seminar titled, "Ethical Fraud and other Fairy Tales". My focus will be on non legal research related websites that attorneys can use to discover and check information in their practices. As you might suspect, there is much useful information on the Internet today, and much of it is freely available, if you know where to look. Is the person you are dealing with on the other side really an attorney? Is he or she subject to discipline by the Bar? What is the name of the bank involved in the transaction? Does it currently exist? If you haven't met someone allegedly involved in a transaction, are they dead or alive? What is the real value of that parcel of real estate? I could go on; but, you get the picture. Save your license, and act competently. Learn where to go on the Internet to find out the real facts. In coming posts, I will focus on the sites I highlight in the presentation.Or, you could leave the cold confines of the cold, dreary Northland, and meet me in Ft. Lauderdale at Pier Sixty-Six.
