External Microphone Accessory for iPod Touch 2G | iPod Touch Tricks.
Why didn't Apple build a microphone into the iPod Touch? Perhaps because it does everything the iPhone does, except phone. With the new 2G Touch able to browse the web and do email with a WiFi connection, the next step is to turn the thing into a WiFi phone. That sort of makes the iPhone monthly cell phone charges not so important anymore. I got an earphone set with a mike included; however, I don't always want to be wearing earphones. Solution? This little $15 microphone accessory. Now, you can WiFi phone all you like with the several WiFi phone apps for the Touch. And, you don't have to pay AT&T a monthly charge for two years.
Just so I understand, is this only a microphone? Does the ipod touch have an earpiece built in or would this additional mic essentially make it a speakerphone?

Yes, it's only a mic. As the iPod touch 2g has a built-in speaker, I'm writing from it right now!

Has anyone tested it for the itouch first generation? Does it work for apps such as iam tpain? Voice changer apps? Voice recorder apps?
