DEAR CITIBANK: I WOULD LIKE REQUEST TO YOU HELP IN SECURING 27 MILLION DOLLARS US | Techdirt. Apparently, you and I aren't the only ones getting scam emails from foreign persons that involve millions of dollars. Citibank was the victim of a scam that sent $21 Million of bank money to Ethiopia, after scammers convinced the bank they represented the Bank of Ethiopia. I think the next time I get an email from some foreign potentate's widow, I will suggest that they lend the money to me, and I will invest it in the depressed U.S. stock market, promising them 50% returns on their money. I don't think I will be investing it in Citibank, though. Even though they got the money back, I would probably be violating some fiduciary rule if I gave them more.
