Digital Confidence ConfidentSend - Removes Hidden Data from E-Mail Attachments. Lawyers know, or should know, that the photos, documents, videos and other similar files that they attach to emails, and send out into the cloud, contain metadata. This hidden data contains information about the attachments that may, or may not, be intended to remain confidential. Lawyers, especially, must be concerned about confidentiality of communications. ConfidentSend is an easy to use, inexpensive, and comprehensive, software solution to this problem. The Lite version is free, but only cleans a few types of attachments. The full version is only $29, and permits automatic, or semi-automatic, removal of hidden data in 14 different file types. The principal attraction for me is the integration of the software with Thunderbird, and OpenOffice, files. If you are an attorney who regularly works on Word documents, and sends them back and forth, and who doesn't want the hidden data revealed, you need this software. I prefer the semi-automatic option, which brings up a screen prompt when Thunderbird is sending an attachment such as a Word file, or Open Office file, or photograph. Don't be embarrassed by hidden data. Protect yourself and your clients.
