Crabble - folding iPhone 3G stand, iPhone stand, iPod. If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, you know that it can be a pain to watch videos while holding the little sucker in your hand. Seskimo has a cheap ($4.99) solution, a foldable little stand that will hold the iPhone or Touch upright for easy viewing. I had a BatRest, the predecessor stand, but lost it, as it is so small. I promise to be more careful with this one. I even got one for She Who Must Be Obeyed. Now, I can't wait for the Sling for iPhone application.

Ears-On With Skype for iPhone | Gadget Lab from Wired.com. The new Skype for iPhone and iPod Touch application has been on my Touch for a few hours, and it is truly wonderful. Since I am connected to WiFi both at home and at the office, I can use the $29.95 a year Skype Out subscription to make calls on the Touch, anywhere in the U.S. or Canada free. Amazing. I am using my Palm Centro for business calls, email, scoring baseball, and keeping track of the Quicken accounts; however, I am using the iPod Touch more and more. When Version 3.0 comes out soon, and BlueTooth is enabled, you will be able to use Skype with a wireless bluetooth earset for calls. The quality of Skype has improved tremendously over the past couple of years, and I use it all the time. Will I give up my Centro? No, but I will use the Touch for more and more.

3g Router: Verizon MiFi 2200 Personal Hotspot Leak. The personal hot spot market is getting hotter every day. For some time, I have been using the Cradlepoint battery powered PHS-300 mobile router, to log on to the Internet with my Verizon Wireless USB modem. Now, Verizon is getting into the act, with a mobile router of its own. It is no bigger than a credit card, and looks very slim and sexy. At an expected $200, it is a little pricier than my Cradlepoint; but looks great. If you absolutely, positively have to have WiFi everywhere, these gadgets are the way to go. Now, if Verizon builds a modem into one of these, I will buy one.

Sneak Peek at Skype for iPhone, Available Tuesday - PC World. Along with 400 Million other people (yes, you read that right), I am a happy user of Skype. It sits in my system tray, and enables almost free calls over my computer to any phone anywhere. I also use it as a poor man's answering machine. I forward my home phone calls to my Skype In phone number, and am able to answer (or not) my home phone wherever I am. Now, I can use my iPod Touch to make Skype calls using the new Skype program, which will be available free on Tuesday, March 31st. You need a WiFi connection, and a headset with a microphone, to use the Touch for Skype calls; however, with the ubiquitous WiFi world, or a wireless broadband modem and a wireless router, you can bypass the cell companies and save a bundle. Skype has become the largest International Voice Carrier. There is safety in those numbers. Join the revolution.

Lawyers know, or should know, that the photos, documents, videos and other similar files that they attach to emails, and send out into the cloud, contain metadata. This hidden data contains information about the attachments that may, or may not, be intended to remain confidential. Lawyers, especially, must be concerned about confidentiality of communications. ConfidentSend is an easy to use, inexpensive, and comprehensive, software solution to this problem. The Lite version is free, but only cleans a few types of attachments. The full version is only $29, and permits automatic, or semi-automatic, removal of hidden data in 14 different file types. The principal attraction for me is the integration of the software with Thunderbird, and OpenOffice, files. If you are an attorney who regularly works on Word documents, and sends them back and forth, and who doesn't want the hidden data revealed, you need this software. I prefer the semi-automatic option, which brings up a screen prompt when Thunderbird is sending an attachment such as a Word file, or Open Office file, or photograph. Don't be embarrassed by hidden data. Protect yourself and your clients.

Sweep your Windows system clean of all the detritus that lurks in nooks and crannies, and robs your system of performance. You can eliminate all the garbage that the typical application places in your system, clean out the startup attic, and many other useful things. If you are the kind of person who feels satisfaction from vacuuming your messy house, or sweeping out the cat hair and dust balls in your kitchen, you will love Revo. Okay new broom, sweep clean.

Would You Buy A Netbook From This Man?

Verizon confirms plans to sell Netbooks | Crave - CNET. AT&T is already selling subsidized netbooks with built-in access to their 3G network. You can buy a netbook for $99, as long as you commit to a long term 3G subscription. Now Verizon Wireless is joining the fray, with a so far unnamed manufacturer partner (probably HP). The question is why? I have been using a netbook with Verizon Wireless 3G for over a year. My wireless USB Verizon broadband wireless modem plugs into the netbook, or into a wireless router, and I happily compute away. Would it be more convenient to have the 3G built in? Perhaps; but, then, I would be limited to using my broadband with one device. If you plan on carrying only one device, then this might be for you. Most of us nowadays are carrying several devices around, and we want flexibility. So, before you jump on the bandwagon, ask yourself what you want and need. Then, buy.

Palm issues takedown for TealOS

Palm issues takedown for TealOS. As a lawyer, I understand Palm being unhappy that Teal has a copycat OS for older Palm handhelds. As a longtime Palm user, I think that issuing a cease and desist letter to Teal, telling them they can no longer use or sell TealOS, is insane. Palm needs all the loyal Palm friends they can get, if they expect to sell the Palm Pre, and get as many users as possible to use Web OS. Getting Palm users familiar with the new interface; and, God forbid, loving it, seems to me to be a marketing tool. I downloaded, and am using, the Teal OS interface for my Palm Centro, and love it. It even made me think about buying a Palm Pre when Palm allows a decent cell phone company to market it. However, Palm, I suggest you get in touch with your loyal user base, and reverse this nutsy decision. Who is running your show, anyway?

American Red Cross. I visted a client in the hospital this morning, who had been there for several days. I wasn't notified immediately because he didn't have an emergency contact card in his wallet. That got me thinking. I didn't either. Do you? Especially if you live alone, you need to carry something on your person to tell the first responders whom to call. Do it now. SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone At Apple Store For Approval

SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone, SlingPlayer for Mac HD make debuts. The word is that SlingPlayer Mobile for the iPhone and iPod Touch 2G is at Apple awaiting approval. I tried to figure how this announcement would have impact on tech lawyering; but, I couldn't. I also don't care. I can watch my home Satellite TV on my Palm Centro, which has the Palm OS; but, it is a tiny screen. The iPod Touch screen is bigger, and more beautiful, and much more watchable. Having access to recorded TV programs, and live sporting events, wherever I am or am traveling is very cool. Now, if the CLE powers that be would just start a TV channel devoted to legal topics, I could watch them on my iPod Touch soon, and this post wouldn't be off topic. Oh, well, I think I will post it anyway.
