Home - Patchmate - Fullerton Enterprises. While the best backup is a ghost image of a Windows XP drive that can be restored in one step, occasionally a complete reinstall of Windows XP is required. It can be a real pain to reinstall Windows from the original CD, and then spend hours downloading and installing the dozens of updates and Service Packs that have been published since then. This handy little free application combines all of the fixes and Service Packs onto one CD, which can be used to install them without downloading from the Net. Every month, the company publishes a new CD with all of the new fixes. This method is a quick and easy way to avoid the slipstreaming process, which can be complicated. I made one of these on CD just to have as a backup, if one of my ghost images fails. Of course, this method won't save your settings or third party apps. You should be backing up your precious documents and data to several locations anyway. You have backed up your photos and documents, haven't you? If not, get to work.
