AppleInsider | Apple prepping iPod nano with camera, three new iPhones - report. Will three new iPhones tempt customers, if they still have to sign on with AT&T? Many users are using the iPod Touch, because, while it isn't a smart phone, it will do anything the iPhone will do, except connect to AT&T's 3G network. Of course, there have been many complaints about the AT&T network, ranging from dropped calls to spotty service. If you still have to sign on with AT&T, what difference will the new phones make? If Apple wants to compete head to head with the Palm Pre, it will have to make the phones available on other networks; however, Sprint has even worse press than AT&T. Those of us who swear by Verizon Wireless, and its ubiquitous, solid network, will still carry smartphones that connect to it. Since there don't seem to be any upcoming Verizon Wireless iPhones or Palm Pres, we may have a long wait. Oh, well, I am happy carrying a Verizon Wireless phone AND an iPod Touch.
In the northeast (Boston specifically) AT&T has the best network. I've had one dropped call in the last couple of years. I have friends with both Verizon and Sprint and I refuse to switch over because of the dropped calls they get and their lack of roll over minutes and overage costs.

The web is replete with iPhone users having a lot of dropped calls with AT&T, particularly in San Francisco and New York. Google AT&T and dropped calls, and you will see some of the complaints. You may be in an area, Boston, where the problem is not as severe. Others have said that AT&T is constantly dropping to the Edge part of the network, which is way too slow for web browsing. Are you getting consistent 3G speeds?
