Bing. I try not to make judgments based upon titles or names. However, my first reaction to Microsoft's new Google competitor search engine was : "What? Is the Bing Crosby family exploiting the famous crooner's legend with a first person website?" I know, short, memorable URLs are few and far between, now that millions of them are taken. Language has its limits. However, Microsoft has more money than God. They couldn't buy a better name? Oh well. Actually, the new kid on the block is quite good. The concept of a "Decision engine" is a cross between Google's key word emphasis, and the "Computational engine" approach of Wolfram/Alpha. Do you want to know what digital camera to buy? Ask Bing. It responds with surprisingly targeted web sites and articles that will help with the decision. Bing. Forget the name. Use the engine. It's like having a very smart friend.
I wonder what the link is between Bing and the Dutch windmills....

Ning. Ding. Ping. Bing. They sure as hell could have bought a better name. Here’s the best post I’ve seen so far on the curiously named, Bing: http://onthebutton.wordpress.com/2009/06/03/naming_bing/
