Microsoft Outlines Upgrade Paths to Windows 7 - Business Center - PC World.
Windows 7 is a nice OS. Windows 7 plays well with others. Windows 7 is pretty and stable. Windows 7 is what Vista wanted to be. However, it is not worth going through the Microsoft upgrade, reinstall, and purchase fiasco parade. Read this post from PcWorld and tell me whether you understand the various ways that users in the U.S. and Europe can get the new version. And, like Vista, you have to comparison shop between the various versions of the new version. Spare me. I have linked Operating Systems to Tire sales before. It is a metaphor that still works. An OS is designed to be a framework, and a vehicle, for the real work to be done. It should work invisibly, and should allow for a full panoply of functional software. Permit another metaphor. It is a new car, when the old one still runs great. Sure, the smell is nice; but, is it worth the price? You be the judge.
