Why I'm Quitting Facebook - Newsweek.com. My name is Futurelawyer, and I was addicted to Facebook. Which is why I quit. Family, friends, friends of friends, people who wouldn't be my friends in any other version of reality, and spies who wanted to become my friend to check up on me for some nefarious purpose; I quit. I am no longer yours to toy with. I no longer have to read which of my "friends" just left on a trip to Paris, or who just got the job of a lifetime. I don't even watch soaps on TV. I enjoyed connecting with the far flung members of my family; for about 20 minutes. Then, I remembered why I left home. That sounds harsh, I know, but I have enough trouble keeping up with my own life, thank you very much. So, I am sorry, all of you legal marketers who have marvelous ways to use Social Media to increase or build a law practice. I think I will use the extra time that I won't be logging on to Facebook, to read a book.
