Lawsuits Pour in Over Google%u2019s Wi-Fi Data Collection | Threat Level | Wired.com. Google's now well publicized collection of data while taking street view photos has spawned a plethora of lawsuits over data privacy. There are any number of state statutes prohibiting unauthorized access of another's computer network, whether data is collected or not. I love it when lawyers get more work; however, it would probably be better if Google can prove it really was unintentional and that no evil intent was intended. After all, do no evil is the company motto, yes?
Please - info obtained from unsecured WiFi broadcasts is sought to be deemed "private?" How long has this security issue been known? Since the advent of WiFi? Might as well post a letter on a street corner and complIn when someone reads it.
