Android wallpaper app exploit stole info from millions of users. A Chinese hacker has stolen info from Android users, with a wallpaper exploit. Apple is using the theft as evidence that its locked down approach to app development on its platform is more secure. One of the disadvantages of the open architecture of Android is that exploits can be downloaded to the user's smartphone. However, the code itself is locked out of Android phones, due to the architecture of Android itself, a variant of Linux. So, the big risk is the user downloading something that can send information to bogus websites. Some time ago, I recommended Lookout Security software for Android, and I do so again. In fact, Lookout is the software that found the recent exploit. Be careful out there.
