HP giving $50 gift cards with AT&T branded Palm phones.
First, the new Palm Pre was going to be the future of computing. It cost $199 plus a contract. Then, Android happened, and Palm lost sales and focus with weird commercials aimed at a demographic that was decidedly untechy and mostly female. Then, HP bought Palm, and you could get a PrePlus for free with a contract. Now, HP is actually "paying" you 450 to take one of these phones off their hands. But, unfortunately, you will still be left with a contract on a phone that isn't an iPhone and isn't Android. Oh, well.
I like my Palm Pre. It's sad right now. My wife has an Evo 4G, as of last Friday. She likes it, but misses flipping the cards on my Pre's webOS.
Basically, I like the OS, but if HP/Palm doesn't release a new device by January I'll think about jumping to Android. I hope this giving the Pre away is prepping the market for a new device that will have much better hardware specs.
For instance, the camera on the Evo 4G is AMAZING to me when compared with my Pre. You can actually focus on documents and small, upclose things with an Evo 4G.
