Netflix lands on the iPhone and iPod Touch, Android soon | DVICE.   Okay, I finally found something the iPhone does that Android doesn't (yet), and I am officially envious. Watching thousands of Netflix movies instantly on the phone isn't something I will do every day; but, there are times when it will really come in handy. Watching the original Alien movie while waiting for the dentist? Priceless.

Google now lets you call phones from Gmail.   Google Voice is now accessible from the GMail interface, and is a worthy competitor to Skype. I have used, and love, Skype, and its quality is now ready for prime time. However, now that I can make free long distance call directly from my GMail interface, along with checking contacts, and email, I will be using Google Voice more. Ultimately, while it is risky putting all of my online eggs in one basket, there is no denying the convenience of having it all on one page. Google Voice for your phone.   Are you using Google Voice yet? If not, you should be. For instance, if you call the Futurelawyer's Google Voice number, 727-537-9235, you will ring my cell, send me a transcribed recording to Gmail, and ring a couple of other numbers I will not divulge. And, you can do all this on your cell phone yourself. It is free, and works great. Now, I don't have to give out new phone numbers every time the gadget monster strikes me. 727-537-9235 has a nice ring to it.

Some California scientists, studying rat brains, have concluded that too much use of digital devices may be depriving our brains of needed down time. Please. If I need down time away from my digital devices, I use a finger to press the off switch. Modern science hasn't even scratched the surface of what the human brain is capable of. Brain fatigue? Go take a nap. Go for a walk. I think there are some scientists in California who need to take a brain break.

Visual Task Switcher Brings Visual Frills to App-Switching | Android Phone Fans.   One of the cool things about Palm's ill fated Web OS was the deck of cards approach to app switching. Just a flick of the finger brought up small windows of the various running apps. Now, this ad-supported free add-on to Android gives some of that kind of functionality to Android phones. I haven't spent a lot of time with it yet, and I may spring for the $1,99 version if the ads become too annoying; however, this seems like a good way to keep track, visually, of what is going on behind the scenes.

Is 'Private' Data on Social Networks Discoverable?. Electronic discovery gets more interesting every day. As Facebook and the other social networking sites gain more members, it is clear that litigators will seek to discover information placed on them by users. Just as email has become a fertile ground for lawyers to use in litigation, so also postings at social networking sites is being sought. What is private, and what is relevant, and what is discoverable, are complex questions, and the cases are still developing. It is likely that discovery of electronic materials will become the case within a case, and that, due to the sometimes ephemeral nature of the bits and bytes that are on the Internet, these discovery cases may become more expensive than the actual litigation. In any event, the fights over what may be discovered should be a cautionary tale to anyone who uses the Internet. I am sometimes amazed at the personal details that people will reveal to the world on a Facebook Wall. This case from California seems to indicate that the more steps one takes to protect their privacy by using the site's privacy settings, the better off they will be if someone comes snooping.

Were you in line to buy Windows 95 fifteen years ago? | ZDNet.   Okay, so I was in line outside the computer store 15 years ago, and I bought one of the first copies of Windows 95. Then, I spent hours popping floppies into the computer to install it. A day later, I was running the latest and greatest. Yes, I did it. I am not proud of it; but, confession is good for the soul. I am just happy that I am alive 15 years later. That is a much greater accomplishment.

Justia has resurrected it, and updated the interface. It has a complete list of links to legal blogs, and a good mix of legal research sources and tools. It has been around since the beginning, and deserves a second look by modern researchers.
