Will You Get the Verizon iPhone? [POLL]. Now that the iPhone 4 is becoming a reality on Verizon, I know that many of you will be ordering one. I am firmly committed to Android, and love my Droid X. However, those of you who are Apple and iPhone lovers will be switching in droves, I am certain. I loved my iPod, and the Apple interface is certainly beautiful and the apps are great. However, I cannot get beyond the lack of a removable battery, the closed and locked nature of the Apple OS, and the lack of hotspot sharing. But, if you love iPhone, hate AT&T, and don't mind the Apple mindset, you are in for a treat with Big Red.

Why I Won%u2019t be Getting a Kinect at Launch - SlashGear. Unlike the author of this SlashGear post, I AM getting a Kinect at launch. I tried hard to figure out a way to link this post to law and technology; but, the closest I got was teaching new lawyers how to make objections by waving their arms at trial. Nope. But, when I think about how the Wii got my family doing fun stuff together in the living room, waving around little plastic controllers, I figured it has to be way fun to do it without a controller. This game attachment to the Xbox 360 will permit the playing of group games just by standing in front of the camera and moving your body around. No controllers to throw across the room. This is going to be a game changer, and my family and I vote yes. I think Microsoft is moving the gaming experience bar with this innovation.

Asus to release 5 tablet PCs in the coming months

Asus to release 5 tablet PCs in the coming months. Asus, which created the netbook market, has been suspiciously silent while everyone else makes plans for iPad competitor tablets. Now, we know why. Apparently, as early as the end of the year, Asus is introducing 5 of them, and they look pretty good. One is a 12 incher running Wintel, and a 9 inch Android is in the mix. There will be a 7 inch model; but, the bigger units will be the big sellers. No word on price, but these babies will be available by January, 2011. I am already drooling over the 12 incher, which will have a dual core processor, run Windows 7, and have a full complement of ports and goodies. The really cool part is that it will have a detachable keyboard; so, when you want a laptop, just snap on the keyboard and go.

We have all had warning messages from friends and family members who think they are helping us by passing along a warning of some alleged computer virus being passed from a particular message or site. Many of them are hoaxes, and the warning itself is the virus. Watch this, and be careful what you forward to friends and family.

While I am on the subject of cheap, impulse buy Android tablet computers, here is one that runs Android 2.1, and has features similar to the $99 Walgreen's special I posted about yesterday. I don't know whether I can upgrade Android 1.6 on the Walgreen's unit I bought to test; however, at these prices, why not? The last movie I took the kids to cost me around $40 for tickets, and $40 for popcorn and candy. The movie only lasted 2 1/2 hours too; but, the battery on these things recharges, and you can watch thousands of Netflix instant movies on them forever. Great Xmas stocking stuffers, and a great replacement for the hundred bucks worth of candy and junk toys you put in those things every year.

Occam's Razor, or the law of succinctness, postulates that the conclusion to a problem is always the one that requires the fewest assumptions. When you watch this video of outtakes from Charley Chaplin's 1928 movie, "The Circus", you have a choice of assumptions. It is thought to show a "lady" (she looks more like Ernest Borgnine) talking into a device held to her left ear. You can't tell what she is holding in her hand, but her lips are clearly moving, and she is walking alone. To believe the movie buff who discovered this footage, you have to assume that she is talking on a cell phone during filming of a movie in 1928. To do that, she has to be an alien or time traveler. Would a simpler assumption be more likely? You be the judge. Of course, if aliens had the technology to come here in 1928, is it a valid assumption that they would allow themselves to be caught or film, or is it more likely that this is a crazy lady who doesn't know what she is doing? 

7-inch WiFi Android Tablet Powered by Android - $99!

Maylong�7-inch M-150 WiFi Middie Universe Tablet Powered by Android | Walgreens. Okay, I know I have been down on  the 7 inch tablet form factor; but, at $99 at Walgreen's (Walgreen's?), this little Chinese import is a no brainer. If you were curious about Android, and want to try out all of the free apps, this little guy has WiFi, a USB port, a 7 inch screen, and Android 1.6. The Android version is old, battery life is only 2.5 hours; but, OMG, it is $99! If you only use it as an EReader and web browser, it is a bargain. I ordered one, and I will report on it when I get it; but, talk about being cheap enough for an impulse buy. This would be a great gift for a teenager or child. It has a dongle to connect to a wired network, and a camera (although the camera is low-res). You can't use the Android Market; but, you just need to download Android APK files to see if the old version 1.6 will run them.

Use a Shower Cap to Reheat Your Food Faster and with Less Mess. Okay, I confess that I use the microwave a lot. She Who Must Be Obeyed is a foodie, and loves to cook and watch cooking shows on TV, and read cookbooks, and Lord knows what else. I draw the line at just eating food. But, when she isn't around, I have been known to take whatever is in the refrigerator, identified or not, and shove it in the microwave. I really should take photos of the mess I create in there; it could be the next great thing in modern art. And, I don't know anyone who uses a shower cap any more. But, if you have one handy (rinse it out first, please), this video contains a nice tip about keeping the microwave clean.
