How to Print from Gmail on Your Android or iPhone Using Cloud Print - How-To Geek. One of the few things I have wanted to do with a smart phone, but couldn't, is to print documents directly to a printer back home or at the office. When mobile, I have always brought my notebook down to the business center in the hotel and used their printers; or, sometimes, I would email documents back to the office as attachments, for later printing. However, with CloudPrint, a Windows computer, and an Android or iPhone, you can now print directly from Gmail to a local printer. This article contains detailed instructions for doing this, and it should be a boon to mobile lawyers. It should be noted that you will need to have the local printer connected to a Windows printer at the office, and have a permanent connection to the Internet. So, if you travel with your office notebook, you will have to print to a secretary's computer and printer. And, you need to install the current beta version of Google Chrome on the local Windows computer; so, if you are uncomfortable with beta software, wait and do this after it comes out of beta.
FWIW, I've been using Chrome 9 beta (instead of Firefox) for about two months on three different Windows PCs (XP and 7 Pro) and have had no problems at all. As I understand it Google Cloud Print prints only PDF and doc files but I still think this is big news. I've been printing wirelessly from my iPhone 3GS and iPad to an HP printer but the thought of doing this through a cloud from anywhere is exciting. Last night I was thinking as I set up Google Sync with my iPhone, iPad, and iPod 4G, where would we be without all the great free tools Google provides? I send them a lot of dinero for Google AdWords and Google Places but think of all the first rate free stuff we've grown accustomed to over the years.

Amazing. Today I printed something on my iPad on my office printer without a hitch. The paperless office is dead. Long live the paperless office!
