What Not To Post On Twitter: 11 Things Your Tweeps Don't Need To Know. While preparing to give a presentation on the use of Social Media in litigation and discovery (on April 1st, in Ft. Lauderdale), I realized that Social Media is only useful in discovery because Twitter and Facebook users either don't care, or don't know, about keeping confidential information secure. There are two sides to this coin. On the one hand, Internet users need to be careful about what they disclose online (see this post from Huffpo); but, on the other hand, Social Media has become an important tool for everyone from actors to revolutionaries. Like other tools, it must be handled with care. So, lawyers have a duty to use whatever tools are available to assist in their clients' matters; however, we also have a duty to our clients to educate them about the risks of social media. The more things change, the more they stay the same. (Thanks to Charles Newton for the heads up, on Facebook).
