9 Reasons to Switch from Facebook to Google | PCWorld. There are a lot of good reasons to switch your main social media connections from Facebook to Google Plus. Not the least of which is that you control everything you share, and when you share it. It is an Opt-in security system, rather than the Facebook Opt-out (if you can figure out how) system. In addition, integration with all the Google services you are already using makes this a no brainer for me. However, should you terminate that ugly Facebook account? No, there are still going to be a lot of eyes there, and they are all hungry for your wisdom. However, I am encouraging my family and friends to move as much connection as they can over to Google Plus, as soon as they get an invite. One of things I love about Google Plus is that the stream shows all conversations going on, as they happen. Since you have restricted your circles to people you know, and with whom you have contact, the conversations will more likely be interesting to you, and you are more likely to participate. So, Google On.
I'm not a fan of Facebook, but I use it because that's where people share with others (they don't mail or phone you anymore). I really pay attention to what I say. I have spent some hours to verify every aspects of the confidentiality settings and I continue to do it quite regularly, as it changes so often).
So, in theses settings, you can deactivate the indexation of your profile by the search engines, preventing someone you scarcely know or someone you don't know at all to find your profile, in addition to prevent other services (such as Google) to know you have an account there.
And the biggest default of Google+ from my point of view is that it is too well integrated with the other Google services. It's so well integrated that a public profile is required to use it. Consequently, your Google+ account (in fact, your whole Google account now, including the possibility to guess your e-mail) is public and associated with your name in the results of the Google Search Engine. That's a side-effect strong enough to keep me from demanding an invitation. What's your opinion about that ?
