Late-night poll: Would you buy a tablet because it was Google branded? | Android Central.
The answer to this question should be no; but, we all know that brand names sell. Oh, of course, sometimes a brand develops a well deserved reputation for quality and function. But, brand in and of itself is not a reason to buy anything. People spend (waste?) a lot of money buying a label. In the clothing world, we even wear the company label on the outside of the garment so that everyone will know that we have fashion sense, and spent a lot of money. Don't make the same mistake in buying tech. Investigate the brand's products. Compare it to other products. Test it for usability. What vain humans we are that we sacrifice usability and comfort and function for the approval of our peers. I remember the Hummer craze of a few years ago. People driving these behemoths were certainly impressive driving down the streets of U.S. cities. You would think we were about to be invaded. If Hummer buyers wanted to show their support of the troops, wouldn't it have been better to buy a Jeep and send the extra money to the Wounded Warrior project?
