LTE downloads of HD video on new iPad could cause sticker shock - Computerworld.
I have been living with a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 since last Fall. It has a 4G LTE radio and I love the thing. I carry it everywhere, and I love Honeycomb Android. I bought a 10 Gigabyte plan for $80 from Verizon; but, only use around 5 Gigabytes a month. If I used it more for watching sports on Slingplayer; which, I suspect, I will be doing more this summer with baseball season, it is not out of the realm of possibility that I will use 10 Gigs a month. So, I feel confident that I can offer advice to all you Apple guys and gals who are going to get a "New iPad, formerly known as the iPad that should have been called iPad 3". You really don't want to use the thing to download and watch HD movies. At 3 to 4 Gigs each, they will eat you alive. Get a Slingbox at home, and watch using the Slingplayer. It eats Gigs, but only about 200-300 Megabytes for 30 minutes. And, use WiFi first. I find that 60% of the time, I am using the tablet at home or at the office on my WiFi connections. I set the thing up as a video monitor while I am working. I have watched more than one afternoon Rays game this way. And, it is great for instant replay at the park. If you don't mind looking like a geek, of course. Watch on.
