How to root the Google Nexus 7, unlock the bootloader, install custom recovery - Liliputing. I was going to wait awhile; but the temptation was too great. I spent my lunch hour today, unlocking the bootloader and rooting my new Nexus 7 tablet. I didn't flash Clockwork Mod Recovery yet, as I think I am going to stay with stock for a while. However, I will be downloading some cool apps that require a rooted device, and will keep you up to date. The Nexus Root Toolkit 1.5.2 makes it an easy process; although, loading the ADB drivers can be a pain. The Samsung drivers work fine on the Nexus 7, even if it is an ASUS device. It is really cool to be able to unlock and root the device in under an hour, and be back up and running with apps and data restored from a backup. I think my first new app will be one to allow me to add USB storage to the unit. Any other ideas, from my great reader database?
