GrooVe IP Lite - Android Apps on Google Play. I have been wondering why Verizon Wireless went to a data only tier plan, and permits unlimited phone minutes on all of its billing plans. I think I now know why. Apps like GrooVE IP use the free Google Voice numbers to permit any phone or tablet to make free VOIP calls using nothing more than a WiFi connection. If you have unlimited cell minutes, you probably don't need this; but, if you are out of your cell area, or have a tablet with WiFi only, why not make it a cell phone? I forward all office and home calls to my Google Voice number, so I am set up for this already. I paid the five bucks for GrooVe IP full version, and will test it on my tablets. You can try the LITE version for free. If you are connected to home or office or free WiFi, call any phone in the US or Canada for free. You are already paying for the Internet to your home or office; use it.
