Verizon Will Debut Galaxy Note 2 On November 29th

Verizon Targets November 29 as Launch Day for Galaxy Note 2 %u2013 Droid Life. The mobile phone gods and their stars are aligning. My next phone, the 5.5 inch big, beautiful, Galaxy Note 2, is up for pre-order now; but, won't be available in my hot hands until November 29th. This is okay with me; because, I don't have an upgrade available until my birthday, on November 17th. As I said, the stars are aligning, and God is telling me to buy the Note 2. I haven't been this excited about a new tech rollout since the announcement of Windows 95 in late 1994. All the Apple fans think that they invented the line on the sidewalk thing; in fact, we started it with the midnight launch of Windows 95. Apple wasn't even a gleam in Steve Jobs' eye back then.

I don't know if this kid is going to law school after college; but, this tiny house would make a great law office on wheels. If I ever get my RV fixed, I might move my computers and law stuff in. You don't need a library of books anymore, so a movable office could be very practical.

So, This LG Nexus 4 Goes Into A Bar...Really

The LG Nexus 4 was lost at a bar (no, really) | Android Central. Remember the story about the Apple employee who left a new iPhone 4 at a bar, and it found its way to a blogger? Well, the next Nexus phone, the LG Nexus 4, just did a repeat. The bartender sees so many lost phones that he didn't blink, until a savvy patron noticed the LG branding. The story is at Wired, and you can read it here. Since the phone isn't scheduled for release until the Google event next week, I imagine the employee who left it is looking for work about now. Google is no more amused about a lost phone prior to launch than Apple was. Just another sad story from San Francisco. Never drink and phone. Maybe we should have another category of dumb stuff, like drunk dialing. How about drunk leaving? Poor LG. They just can't catch a break this year.

However, several years ago it was the first dual core tablet, and was the cream of the crop. Unfortunately, it ran a locked down version of Android Gingerbread, and Viewsonic gave it no love at all. So, it got relegated to my old tech bin, even though I had rooted it and installed an early mod that gave it more functionality. So, after looking for Honeycomb for it for a year, I forgot about it, until I recently discovered that there was a new Jelly Bean port for it, and I couldn't resist. After a couple of hours, I am now running the latest Jelly Bean on my old tablet, and it is a new machine. I have no clue what I am going to do with it; but, the joy is in the journey, not the destination.

Oldest Edison TinFoil Recording. Some things never change. Give a family a brand new sound recording device, and they record their kid practicing the cornet, and dad laughing, and somebody mangling the reading of Mary Had A Little Lamb. This 1878 recording is the oldest recording of the human voice and sound available. It has been saved to digital format by scientists from the Berkeley National Laboratory and the Library of Congress. The TinFoil was wrapped around the cylinder of the Edison Phonograph when recorded. It is amazing that it has survived. I wonder if the videotapes I made of the kids' recitals will be national news in a hundred years?

NeatCloud & NeatMobile | Access Your Digital Filing System Anywhere. I love my Neat Scanners. They have standard TWAIN drivers, which work great with Paperport Anywhere. Paperport already has a great cloud storage option, which syncs with my document folders. I still don't put client documents in the cloud; but, everything else is there. Neat scanners are fast, affordable, and efficient. However, the software is horrible, and slow, and every other negative thing you could say about scanner software.Updates are impossible, and crash often. The proprietary scans are impossible to export, unless you feel like waiting a couple of days. So, Neat, sorry; but, while I am not sorry I bought your scanners, I live in a Paperport world. Nuance finally got their act together.
