Is It Good Enough to Simply Look Good? - ABA Journal.
This piece about the overstaffing and overconsumption of legal resources by big law firms is instructive. First, being a solo requires that the substance of a law practice be sound. There is no one else around to share the blame. This fosters an attitude of responsibility that hits the pocketbook on a daily basis. Second, "looking good" isn't really part of the solo mantra. We practice in converted houses, back rooms, and small places and connect with clients via email, social networks, blogs and other modern tech. Clients today want efficiency, and results. They do not want bloated bureaucracy. I don't care about looking good. My parrots do that for me. Mahvelous. Simply Mahvelous.
