Apple v. Samsung: Judge Rules Samsung Did Not Willfully Infringe | Gadget Lab | Wired.com.
Ever since Apple won a billion dollar jury verdict against Samsung last year, the verdict has been diluted by post-trial rulings. First, the Judge declined injunctive relief, which means that Samsung is free to continue selling its smartphones. Now, the Judge has overturned the "willful infringement" portion of the verdict, which means that the huge damage award will not be trebled. At least, these rulings will stand for a year or so, as the appeals process wears on. Consumers just want the patent trials to end, so they can get on with choosing the phone of their choice. While I prefer Samsung phones to Apple's, I want both companies to stop litigating with each other, find a way to live together, and keep innovating.
