One of the toughest things to do in a materialistic society is to find contentment. We are always, it seems, seeking more of everything, and society conspires to create discontent with what we have. Advertising, media, peers, and our society seem to be discontent with contentment. James Mackintosh (1765-1832) Scottish Statesman and Historian said it best. He said: "It is right to be content with what we have, never with what we are." May I offer the corollary that it is mandatory for happiness to be content with what we have. And, our happiness depends upon always seeking to be better than who we are.
