HTC One Google edition: It's real and coming in summer | Mobile - CNET News.
Many of us refuse to buy HTC products, even though HTC has been at the forefront of many smart phone developments for years. HTC has a front end called Sense that you either love or hate. More than that, HTC has the worst software upgrade history in the business. I bought the first HTC Incredible which, at the time, was the fastest phone on the market, and the first with 3G. I bought the HTC Thunderbolt, which was the first 4G LTE phone. I hated Sense; but, until I learned how to root and install custom ROMs the Thunderbolt sat with a rapidly dated OS, and other new phones came out with the latest Google OS. So, the announcement that Samsung is coming out with a Galaxy S4 with pure Google and no front end, and HTC's announcement that it is doing the same with the HTC One, is a pure Google fan's dream. Upgrades to recent versions of Android should be easy without the need to upgrade the front end stuff the manufacturers like to add to differentiate their products. If HTC is to survive, this is the path.
