Is Google Close To A Working Universal Translator?

Don't Panic: Google has prototypes for 'real-time' translation device, 'near perfect' in some uses. It was so much fun to watch Star Trek, and it is almost as much fun to watch real technology bring the sci fi versions to life. Now, it appears that Google is close to creating a real life universal translator that would make Kirk and McCoy proud. While it would come in handy during client consultations with persons who speak another language, I want it so that, when the aliens invade, I will be able to understand them when they tell us of their plans to take over our planet.
